Make the Right Choice
In Joshua 24:14 Joshua tells the
leaders of Israel that they have a choice. He
says, “…choose today
whom you will serve”. They had a choice of who they were
going to serve. No one was going to force or intimidate them into who they should
follow and serve – it was up to them.
Today we are
faced with making a lot of decisions, not only for ourselves but for our families as well.
Many of our personal choices may seem to be good because our society look favorably on it. But just because society says those choices are good and normal, they may not be in accordance with God’s
will and instructions. In the Romans 1:22 we are told that “Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools”. Society
says that same-sex marriage is fine; that the ‘soft porn’ we see on prime-time television is ok. We are urged to hand out condoms in school and ignore the progressive violence that plagues our society. And we allow this because we chose to. Again
in Romans 1:24 – 32 tells us this. Go ahead, pick up the Bible and read
it. But remember, it’s your choice.
Just like
Joshua told the leaders of Israel you
are being offered a choice. You can serve the gods of this world – lust,
greed, hatred, envy, jealousy, and a whole host of others – or you can choose to serve God.
God love us
so much that He gave His Son Jesus to pay the penalty of our sinfulness by dying in our place.
We deserve God’s punishment for our disobedience but instead He let Jesus be punished in our place. But to receive God’s pardon – His salvation – we need to accept the gift that He sent
– His Son Jesus. We need to acknowledge that we are sinners and that Jesus
died for us. We need Him as our Lord and Savior.
When Jesus
asked Peter, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Christ the Son of the Living
God.” We need to make that same proclamation and accept (choose)
Him as our Lord and Savior. I encourage you to make that choice today. Choose today who you will serve! Find a local church or contact us and let us know about your decision.
